Núria B. Centeno

Núria B. Centeno is associate professor at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF, Barcelona, Spain) and PI at PharmacoInformatics group of the IMIM-UPF joint Research Programme on Biomedical Informatics (GRIB).

She obtained a degree in Chemistry at University of Barcelona in 1989, and a PhD at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya granted with the PhD Extraordinary Award in 1996. She did pre-doctoral stages at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, and at the Molecular Research Institute in Palo Alto, California. She joined the Research Programme in Biomedical  Informatics in 1997 and become professor at the UPF in 2000.

Núria B. Centeno is author of more than 35 articles in indexed journals and responsible of some research projects in the field of drug design, funded by Spanish and European public organizations, as well as private companies and foundations. She has been invited speaker in several universities from Spain and Latinoamerica, and is mentor of 3 PhD theses. She is founder member of the Iberoamerican Society of Bioinformatics (SoiBio).

Currently, she is teaching Structural Biology at undergraduate level and is the coordinator of the MSc in Bioinformatics for Health Sciences (UPF/UB).

Research interests

Her main research interest is the use of computer-assisted drug design techniques in the discovery of new compounds as potential therapeutic agents in collaboration with experimental groups.
