Database position at the IBI Group

Development and management of several biomedical databases

Job Description:

The successful candidate will work in the development and management of several biomedical databases in the group. These databases include clinical data from electronic health records, and also different types of biomedical data from public repositories. Examples of the latter are the DisGeNET (http://www.disgenet.org/) and PsyGeNET (http://www.psygenet.org/) resources developed in our group. The tasks include the design, development, administration, and maintenance of the integrity, security, and availability of the different relational databases in our group. These tasks include data transformation, tuning, backup and migration between different RDBMS as well as data analysis. In addition, the candidate will work in the implementation of web services and APIs. The candidate will work in close collaboration with other members of the group in a variety of interdisciplinary projects in the area of translational bioinformatics in which these databases are used.

Skills and Experience

  • Bioinformatics / or field related degree
  • Candidates should have the ability to work independently and within a collaborative research team, and possess excellent communication and organisation skills.
  • Excellent programming skills (Python, Perl, or Java)
  • knowledge and experience in management of biological databases
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills

Benefits of the opening:

We offer a 4 months, part-time contract (30hrs/week), with a yearly gross salary of 21.700 EUR.
