Bioinformatics Analyst on Transcriptomics Position at the Evolutionary Genomics Lab

Job Description: 

We are looking for a bioinformatics analyst to help in developing computational pipelines to analyze RNA sequencing data. The tasks include performing de novo transcript assemblies of diverse RNA sequencing dataset types - including short and long read technologies - and integrating information from different sources of functional data. The candidate will be supporting currently ongoing projects at the Functional Genomics and Evolutionary Genomics groups from the Research Programme on Biomedical Informatics (GRIB, UPF-IMIM).

The work is supported by grant: AEI - BIO2017-85364-R (FEDER) F.Sanz (Predicción de vulnerabilidades terapéuticas en cáncer por medio de la descomposición de transcriptomas de longitud completa) from the Spanish Ministry of Economy (MINECO), FEDER and Agencia Estatal de Investigación sources.

Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in the life sciences and previous working experience, of at least one year, in a bioinformatics lab.
  • Good knowledge of the most commonly-used software to handle and analyze high throughput RNA sequencing data. 
  • Experienced in the use of the R statistical package. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Fluid English level.

Benefits of the opening

We offer a six months contract, full-time (37,5hrs/week); Gross salary is around 22.000 eur/year.
