Junior Web Developer position at MedBioinformatics Solutions SL
MedBioinformatics Solutions SL is a spin-off from the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute (IMIM) and the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) that provides products and services to unlock the potential of genomics for healthcare and drug R&D.
Our company has extensive experience in developing solutions in knowledge management, text mining and systems medicine to support applications in precision medicine, drug R&D and in silico toxicology.
Our flagship product DISGENET plus is a knowledge platform on disease genomics that unlocks the potential of genomics for precision medicine and drug R&D applications.

The role: Junior Web Developer
MedBioinformatics Solutions SL is expanding its research & development team to incorporate a Junior Web Developer. The candidate will support our team in the development and maintenance of the web infrastructure of the knowledge platform DISGENET plus. He/she will work in close collaboration with other members of the group and contribute to the development of other tools that are part of the DISGENET plus platform, among other web services that the company provides to its partners.
Working environment:
MedBioinformatics Solutions SL offices are in the Barcelona Activa start-up incubator Almogàvers, in the @22 district of Barcelona, with easy access by public transportation.
Degree:
- Certificate of Higher Education ("Ciclo Formativo de Grado superior") in web development, or University degree in Informatics or related areas.
Required qualifications and skills:
- Experience in Linux Environments
- Programming language(s): Java, Python, C/C++, PHP, Javascript
- Databases: SQL
- Web Technologies and Web Application Development: JSP, jQuery, Python
- Software development tools: Maven, Git, CVS
Other valuable skills:
- Web servers: Apache, Nginx
- Frontend frameworks: React, Angular, AngularJS, VueJS
- Backend frameworks: Spring, Django
- Cloud services: AWS, GoogleCloud, Azure
- NoSQL and BigData technologies: Elasticsearch, MongoDB or knowledge in Nosql databases.
- Knowledge of R programming language
In addition, the candidate is expected to be:
- Comfortable at working in a start-up environment, where a pragmatic, resourceful, well organized, and effective approach is required with limited resources
- A hands-on, decisive approach and a proven ability to work independently and as a team player
- Excellent communication skills in English
