The application for the 3rd edition of the MSc on Bioinformatics for Health Sciences is open

For students interested in the third edition (2006-2008) of the MSc on Bioinformatics for Health Sciences the on-line application protocol is open now until June 9th 2006. The on-line registration to the Master will take place in September 2006.

Following the new structure of university education within the framework of the EHEA (European Higher Education Area), in this new edition, the master will be a part of the "official postgraduate programme" at the Department of Experimental and Health Sciences (CEXS), of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF).

Research Group in Computational Biochemistry and Biophysics, has been appointed as the academic coordinator of the Master.

In the EHEA, the so-called "Bologna master"´s are the new ordinary route to doctorates. Once an official master (usually a research master) has been successfully completed, the student can apply to a doctorate programme. Consequently, the MSc on Bioinformatics for Health Sciences is part of the protocol for entering in the PhD programme on Health and Life Sciences of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra carried out in the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) environment.

As far as the student profile is concerned, the degree accepts students of all nationalities with extremely diverse backgrounds in health and life sciences, exact and computer sciences or from other experimental or technological degree as chemistry, physics or engineering. All the activities of the master are carried out in English. The name Bioinformatics for Health Sciences is a sign of the aim of integrating bioinformatics methods and tools with the biomedical informatics vision.
