GRIB participates in the organisation of the First European Summer School in Biomedical Informatics

To be held in Balatonfüred (Hungary) from the 2nd to the 8th of July, 2006.

After two successful summer schools organised by the Semantic Mining project in 2004 and 2005, the three ongoing Networks of Excellence working in the field of biomedical informatics have decided to organise a joint event, where experts and PhD students can exchange their experiences and ideas. These projects are BioPattern, INFOBIOMED, and SemanticMining, all three funded by the European Community Information Society Technology programme, within the Sixth Framework Programme.

The event will be a mix of group activities, presentations and discussions on research issues and research skills of common interest to the three organising Networks of Excellence. All participants have been invited to present a poster about their research work and some students will also have the opportunity to present their work in short seminars.

The programme of the Summer School includes workshops on text and web mining, data visualisation, ontology engineering, reference terminologies, integrative biomedical informatics supporting drug discovery and development, etc. Around 100 scientists will participate in this initiative.
