The Research Unit on Biomedical Informatics (GRIB), coordinator of the Network of Excellence INFOBIOMED organises the 3rd edition of the INFOBIOMED Training Challenge.

The Research Unit on Biomedical Informatics (GRIB) , coordinator of the Network of Excellence INFOBIOMED (www.infobiomed.org), organises the 3rd edition of the INFOBIOMED Training Challenge, which will take place in Edinburgh (UK) from the 2nd to the 6th of October 2006. The third edition will be hosted by the University of Edinburgh, which is also a partner of the INFOBIOMED Network of Excellence. The broad topic of this Challenge will be the study of host-pathogen interactions.

This event will gather 2 groups of 5 students with different backgrounds (bioinformatics, medical informatics, biology, medicine, chemistry, etc.) that will be working together in a case study that will be different for each group.

The objective of this training activity is to promote the dialogue between disciplines, which is key for the future development of biomedical informatics, in the context of a specific research problem.
At the end of the 3rd INFOBIOMED Training Challenge, the members of the team that presents the best integrative approach will be awarded with an exchange fellowship that will allow them to stay for one month in one of the INFOBIOMED partner organisations.
The call for students is open until the 12th of July.
